Canada Graduate Master Scholarships Spring 2025

Are you a high-achieving Canadian student looking to pursue a master’s degree with a concentration on research? The Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s (CGS M) program provides an excellent opportunity to further your academic and research goals. This scholarship is administered collaboratively by Canada’s three granting agencies—NSERC, CIHR, and SSHRC—and supports up to 3,000 students across all fields each year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • To qualify for the CGS M program, applicants must:
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).
  • Enroll in or apply for a full-time, eligible master’s or doctorate program at a Canadian institution.
  • Achieve a first-class GPA (as judged by the host institution) in each of the last two completed academic years.
  • Each academic year, submit only one scholarship application to NSERC, CIHR, or SSHRC.
  • Have completed 0–12 months of full-time study (or equivalent) in the approved program.

Application Process

  • To apply to the CGS M program:
  • Research Portal:
    Applications are submitted via the Research Portal, which begins in early September. Applicants may apply to up to three institutions.
  • Canadian common CV:
    Complete and upload your CV on the Canadian Common CV website.
  • Required Documents:
    Make sure you follow each institution’s specific requirements for submitting your application and meeting internal deadlines.
    The scholarship application is examined at the institutional level, and each institution must follow agency-specific guidelines.

Selection Criteria:

  • Academic Excellence (50 percent):Academic records, awards, and distinctions are used to assess performance.
  • Research potential (30%):Research history, contribution originality, and the potential impact of planned research are all taken into consideration.
  • Personal Features (20%):Includes leadership abilities, volunteerism, and project management expertise.

Application Deadline

The application deadline CGM scholarship is December 1, 2024 at 8:00 pm ET. Ensure you submit early, as the Research Portal may experience high traffic as the deadline approaches.
